Missouri State University Applied Anthropology

Anthropologists seek to understand the many varied peoples and cultures of the world — past and present — where they are coming from and where they are going.

All fields of anthropology can be applied to the needs and problems of society today. The strengths of the MSU Applied Anthropology Graduate Program lie in the fields of archaeology and cultural anthropology; although it is possible to pursue studies in biological and linguistic anthropology as well.

Our program offers coursework and research opportunities in the following applied subjects:
•Community development
•Cultural resource management
•Environmental studies
•Ethnographic research
•Ethnohistory
•Historical archaeology
•International development
•Language preservation
•Lithics
•Medical anthropology
